Burnout is real.

As founders, we need to take burnout seriously.

According to a report by Startup Snapshot in April 2023, 72% of founders reported their work having a detrimental impact on their mental health.

Burnout usually comes from a combination of stress and fatigue. And it can sneak up on you.

Stress can lead to sleep deprivation.

Fatigue leads to a decline in focus and productivity.

The combination of stress and fatigue can also result in mood swings affecting not just your morale but your whole team’s.

When burnout grips, it can lead to 'panic paralysis' - when even the simplest of tasks can begin to feel insurmountable.

Sometimes we laugh it off, even wear it as a badge of honour. But left unchecked it can at best derail your plans and at worst impact your mental and physical health.

As Founders, we should remember we are in a better position than most to both mitigate against burn-out and make adjustments if it happens.

After all, who's the boss?
